„Cool Cat Cash“ seminars in Klaipėda and Kaunas: how to create an EPK that works

The Lithuanian Jazz Union is continuing its „Cool Cat Cash“ series of seminars on music entrepreneurship and careers. The seminar will take place in Klaipėda on 4 May and in Kaunas on 18 May. This time the sessions will focus on one of the most important tools in a musician's professional communication: the Electronic Press Kit (EPK).

A good musical project is no guarantee that it will be noticed by programmers at festivals, clubs or other concert venues. For music to reach the right people, it is important to be able to present yourself and your work professionally and clearly. This is exactly what an EPK does: it is not merely a collection of photos, a biography and music links, but a musician's or band's calling card.

During the seminar, participants will learn what an effective EPK really is and how music industry professionals view it. The session will cover what information an EPK must include and what is better left out, how to write a convincing and professional artist biography, and how to present music, video material and visuals in a way that helps attract potential partners.

It will also examine the most common mistakes that can cause even strong musical projects to go unnoticed, and discuss how to adapt an EPK for different markets, festivals, clubs and other professional situations.
The seminars will be led by Dorotėja Būdaitė, Chair of the Board of the Lithuanian Jazz Union and manager of „JJA Music“ and „Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble“, who works with international stages, showcase platforms and music export projects.

Seminar dates and venues:
4 May, 15:00 – Klaipėda, LMTA Klaipėda Faculty, K. Donelaičio g. 4. Partner: the Klaipėda Faculty of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
18 May, 15:00 – Kaunas, VDU Music Academy, Amerikos lietuvių g. 5. Partner: the Music Academy of Vytautas Magnus University.

Participation in the seminars is free of charge.
